KARACHI: KBA poll results today

Published December 19, 2005

KARACHI, Dec 18: The results of the Karachi Bar Association annual election will be announced on Monday. The KBA’s election commission, which had stopped the counting of the votes on Saturday, will resume the counting at 2pm on Monday.

KBA’s General Secretary told Dawn that the counting of votes was suspended on Saturday due to the illness of chief election commissioner Munawwar Malik.

Meanwhile, a candidate for the KBA’s presidentship, Mohammed Aqil, on Saturday moved an application to the chief election commissioner for the re-election due to “massive rigging” in the polling. The KBA general secretary said the election commission would also make decision on Mr Aqil’s application.
