Horse-racing: Brummel fancied for feature event
LAHORE, Dec 17: Bay English colt, Brummel should win the Karachi Plate, a Class II and III handicap race featuring a card of seven, at the Racecourse on Sunday.
The three-year-old colt from English sire of the Coolmore racing empire, Polish Precedent out-of-Fashion, Brummel is contesting in the last race to be gone over 1600m.
This is a race for purely imported thoroughbreds, the main event of the 16th Lahore Winter Meeting.
Brummel has already won four races and placed as many times in his eleven outings to date.
On his previous outing he was beaten by Hidden Cave in the Zaheer-ud-Din Muhammad Babar Cup over a mile on Nov 20 last.
Although carrying a heavy impost of ten stones eight pounds in the handicap, he is a confirmed stayer and weight carrier by his bloodline of Polish Precedent-Danzig, which had produced many turf heroes.
Meanwhile, the annual elections of the LRC stewards will be held at the Annual General Meeting of the members of the club scheduled for Dec 24. There are eleven candidates for the ten-member panel of stewards.
