UNITED NATIONS, Dec 17: Masood Haider, a senior Pakistani journalist, has been elected president of the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) for the year 2006.
Mr Haider, who represents this publication at the UN headquarters in New York, was not challenged in the annual elections.
He is the third Pakistani journalist to head the prestigious 175-member Association since its establishment in 1946 to promote and defend the professional interests of its members.
A 9-member executive committee was also elected.—APP
