KARACHI: ASH to be made model hospital: nazim


KARACHI, Dec 17: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal has announced to make the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital as the city’s “model hospital” within three to six months.

He also announced to provide 10 computers to the hospital for its computerised working, and for introducing a new system of employees’ attendance.

He was addressing the medical and paramedical staff of the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and the Karachi Medical and Dental College on Saturday.

He also inaugurated the hospital’s ICU setup with the cooperation of the private sector.

The nazim said a committee had been set up under Dr Waqar Kazmi, which was working on plans for making the Abbasi Shaheed a model hospital.

He lamented that the 850-bed hospital had been destroyed during the last 10 years, and asked why patients ware not prepared to visit the hospital thought its budget was increasing every year.

“We will not only bring far reaching improvement in this hospital but will make it a model for all city government hospitals.”

The city nazim said the city government was introducing hospital management system, and the entire system from purchase of medicines to its supply and the record of patients will be computerised.

He directed the EDO Health to immediately provide 10 computers to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

He said that the hospital’s improvement and provision of immediate medical help to people were among his priorities.

“We have come here to serve the people and will not tolerate any impediment in the way.”

He asked the hospital staff to help him in making the institution a model one.

The ceremony was also addressed by Dr Waqar Kazmi and Medical Superintendent Dr Azfar Saeed.

ROAD: During his visit to Landhi and Korangi, the nazim was informed that work on the Road-12000 project was slow due to the apathy of the contractor.

Mustafa Kamal taking notice of the undue delay in road construction directed the concerned officials to issue a show cause notice to the contractor.

He also ordered an inquiry and said if any official was found to be negligent in discharging his responsibilities, action should be taken against him.—APP
