KILLINOCHCHI, Dec 17: The Tamil Tigers on Saturday rejected a government suggestion that talks be held in an Asian country. The LTTE’s spokesman, S. P. Thamilchelvam, said at a press conference that the group was willing to review the ceasefire, as requested by the government, but insisted that Norway should be the venue for talks.
“We are ready to discuss the gaps in implementation of the ceasefire signed with the government in Feb 2002. But Norway should be the venue to host such talks,” Mr Thamilchelvam said.
The government on Friday said it was ready to hold talks with the Tamil Tiger rebels in any Asian country.
