KARACHI, Dec 16: Pakistan boxing chief Professor Anwar Chowdhry on Friday took a swipe at the boxing authorities in India after an international tournament which was to be held in Pune (India) next month was cancelled.
Chowdhry told reporters that the Indian Boxing Federation has informed the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) that an invitational tournament, which was scheduled to get underway from Jan 7 has been cancelled because of administrative problems.
The PBF chairman refused to accept the reason saying that the Indians should have not cancelled the event at the last moment. Pakistan were among around 35 nations who were invited for the tournament.
Chowdhry, who is also the President of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA), said that such an action by a host country results in financial losses to a participating nation and should be avoided.—PPI
