Rehman, Imran spin out KRL

KARACHI, Dec 16: Abdul Rehman and Imran Farhat spun out Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) for 247 in their first innings on the first day of their four-day match in Patron’s Cricket Trophy Grade-I championship at NBP Sports Complex ground on Friday.

Slow left-arm spinner Rehman captured five wickets for 120 runs in 28.2 overs and occasional leg-spinner Imran Farhat grabbed three wickets for 18 runs as KRL were put to bat first.

When stumps were drawn for the day, HBL were 16 without loss. Imran Farhat was batting on 11 and Riffatullah was three not out.

Ali Urooj Naqvi hit a fine 74 off 109 balls with nine boundaries and saved KRL from total collapse.

At one stage KRL were reeling at 194 for nine wickets after leg spinner Imran Farhat took three wickets for one run in 19 deliveries. But tail-enders Saeed Ajmal and Abdul Rauf added invaluable 53 runs for the tenth wicket.

Saeed hit a brace of 4s in his 25 and Rauf finished at 28 not out which included two boundaries and a six in 44 minutes.
