Youth’s murder prompts calls for security

By Our Staff Correspondent

CHINARI, Dec 16: Relatives of a Kashmiri student who was brutally murdered in the town of Havellian on Thursday have appealed to federal and provincial authorities to take stringent security measures for the protection of earthquake victims. Eighteen-year-old Arsalan Zafar, who had stayed back in the AJK town of Chinari to assist relief and rehabilitation activities even though his family members had moved to Havellian after the Oct 8 earthquake, had arrived in Havellian only a day before his murder.

The funeral prayers were held on the grounds of the Boys Degree College in Chinari where the slain youth was a student.

Sahibzada Mohammad Ishaq Zafar, president of the AJK chapter of People’s Party, urged the NWFP government to immediately arrest the killers and award them exemplary punishment.
