KARACHI: Completion of K-III by March next ordered

KARACHI, Dec 16: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal on Friday directed Karachi Water and Sewerage Board officials and contractors to complete the work on K-III Project meant to supply 100-MGD extra water to the metropolis before March 31, 2006.

Addressing a meeting, attended by KWSB officials and representatives of contractors, at his office to review the pace of works on K-III Project, Mustafa Kamal instructed that problems being faced by contractor firms be solved forthwith.

However, he warned that any delay by the KWSB would not be tolerated and asked officials to pay bills timely and ensure close co-ordination between field officers and representatives of contractor firms.

He further directed them to carry out works on emergency basis and continue works in night hours, if necessary, saying that the city district government was trying its best to provide potable water to Karachiites as soon as possible.

“We have also started works on revamping and repair of water supply lines in interior of the city and after completion of K-III Project water needs of Karachi will be catered to great extent,” he added.—PPI
