By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Dec 15: The sub-committee of Senate standing committee on textiles industry has sought input from the representatives of various organizations dealing with tent manufacturing and export and other stakeholders engaged in providing shelter to the earthquake survivors.

The sub-committee met in Parliament House with Senator Pari Gul Agha in the chair on Thursday.

In reply to a question, Federal Minister for Textile Industry Mushtaq Ali Cheema informed the committee that the government had taken prudent stock of the post-earthquake situation and minimum possible price of tents was fixed after consulting the manufacturers.

The representatives of the federal and provincial governments briefed the meeting about the mechanism behind specifications and price fixation for tents.

The meeting was also apprised of the procedure for procurement of tents and for ensuring their quality.

The sub-committee decided to seek input from other stakeholders in its next meeting before finalizing its report for submission to the main committee.
