HYDERABAD, Dec 15: The Mirpurkhas TMO denied a claim made in the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Wednesday that statements of utilization of funds for various schemes were not displayed at required places. He said such statements were displayed on notice boards for public information.

He said the TMA and the district government were working in accordance with law.

The TMO said that such information could be obtained through a prescribed form on payment of a fee.

He said the petitioner never tried to get the information according to the prescribed procedure of the municipal department.

He rejected the allegation of misappropriation of funds and said that an annual audit report about funds had been prepared by the Local Fund Audit department.

The TMO stated that the required statements were displayed by accounts or taluka finance officers on the notice boards for public information.

The petitioner, Abdul Nasir Khan, had claimed in his petition that the DCO and the TMO of Mirpurkhas were bound to place the statements of monthly and annual accounts at a conspicuous place under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance of 2001. But they were not doing so.

He said he had requested the district government on Oct 14 and 27, 2004, and the TMA on March 12, 2005, to display the required statement of accounts for public information but they did not do so.
