NAWABSHAH, Dec 15: Activists of the Sindh Taraqi Pasand Students Federation staged a demonstration outside the press club on Thursday in protest against construction of the Kalabagh dam. Party President Nisar Keerio, district president Imran Keerio, Imran Memon, Shahzad Bhatti and Faraz Sindhi led the protesters.

They said the people of Sindh had rejected the dam and if the government did not abandon the project, the situation would be like that of 1971.

Activists of the Sindh People’s Students Federation of the Habib Technical College also staged a demonstration outside the press club on Thursday against construction of the Kalabagh dam.

They said the Kalabagh dam was an anti-Sindh project and Sindh was being deprived of its right so the government should shelve the project.

Our Mirpurkhas Correspon-dent adds: The city chapter of the Pakistan Muslim League-F at a meeting held on Thursday called upon the government to remove people’s reservations regarding the Kalabagh dam.

Speaking on the occasion, Malik Allah Din said the PML-F had a clear stand on the issue.

He said the government should take a decision about the dam in the interest of the country.

He said the Kalabagh dam was a technical issue and the government should remove reservations of people of Sindh about the project.

He, however, said that if the dam was to benefit agriculture of Sindh, it should be constructed to bring about prosperity in the province.
