‘Govt chooses dialogue over conflict’

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Dec 15: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf has said that anti-development elements should not misconstrue the government’s earnest desire to resolve all issues through negotiations as a sign of weakness. “The government possesses the power to reply in the same coin to anti-development elements but it believes in the process of dialogue,” Jam Yousuf told a press conference on Thursday evening.

The chief minister strongly condemned the rocket attacks in Kohlu during President General Pervez Musharraf’s visit and said it was against “the hospitality traditions of Balochistan”.

As the first head of state to visit Kohlu, President Musharraf was a distinguished guest, he said. “On this occasion firing of rockets and subversive activities were a condemnable act and nobody could support such action,” he said.

The chief minister promised to take stringent action against those who were involved in rocket attacks.
