KARACHI: PIA airlifts 40,400 pilgrims

KARACHI, Dec 14: Maintaining a 95 per cent regularity, the PIA Haj operation is continuing smoothly, and, so far, 40,400 Haj pilgrims have been airlifted to the holy land through 118 flights operating from the provincial and federal capitals. This year the PIA will be transporting 125,000 Haj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia through 346 flights and has so far flown 12,600 pilgrims from Karachi through 29 flights, 9,020 from Islamabad through 20 flights, 8,250 from Lahore through 19 flights, 6,360 from Peshawar through 30 flights and 4,170 from Quetta through 20 flights.

The on-going pre-Haj operation, which started on Dec 5, will conclude on Jan 4 while post-Haj flights will commence on Jan 14.—APP
