ISLAMABAD, Dec 13: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar has suspended the by-election result for the National Assembly’s NA-210, Jacobabad-III, seat.
The by-election was held on Saturday.
Election Commission Secretary Kanwar Mohammad Dilshad told reporters here on Tuesday that the result was suspended after the acting CEC received a number of complaints of irregularities during the polling from candidates. The media also reported certain irregularities, he said.
The acting CEC directed the Jacobabad district and sessions, the district returning officer, to submit his detailed report on ‘abnormal voting’ in NA-210.
The DRO has been barred from issuing consolidated result of the by-election till further orders.
WARNING: The acting CEC has warned district, town, tehsil and union council nazims and naib nazims, district coordination and police officers and other government functionaries, including employees of the respective district governments, to refrain from interfering in the polling process during the Dec 17 by-elections.
By-elections will be held on the day for the national and provincial assemblies’ seats NA-64, Sargodha-I; NA-132, Sheikhupura-II; NA-180, Muzaffargarh-V; NA-189, Bahawalnagar-II; PP-33, Sargodha-VI; and PP-117, Mandi Bahauddin-II.
