GUWAHATI, Dec 13: An Indian air force Mig-21 fighter aircraft crashed on Tuesday in the northeastern state of Assam, but the pilot managed to bail out safely, an official said.
An air force spokesman said the aircraft crashed on the outskirts of the Salonibari airbase near Tezpur, about 185km from Assam’s main city of Guwahati.
The Indian air force has been plagued by crashes of aircraft in its aging fleet, particularly Russian-made Mig-21s.—AFP
