KARACHI, Dec 11: The Pakistan People’s Party has warned those at the helms of the affairs that attempts to push the representative and popular forces to the wall would have grave consequences. “The rulers, who have been trying to impose an artificial leadership on the masses through rigged polls, should learn a lesson from the East Pakistan debacle,” Taj Haider, Information Secretary of the party said while addressing a public meeting held in North Nazimabad in connection with the PPP’s 38th founding day.
He criticized the rulers for “diverting people’s attention from real issues by concocting the unnecessary debate on Kalabagh dam project.”
The PPP would not allow them to create a gulf between federating units,” he said, adding that all such nefarious designs aimed at prolonging the undemocratic rule would be foiled with the return of PPP Chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto to the country.
Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary of the party’s Sindh chapter Nafees Siddiqui criticized the Sindh government for blindly obeying the dictates of the Centre and not trying to protect the interests of Sindh and its people.
