KARACHI: 3,652 granted admissions to KU honours programmes


KARACHI, Dec 10: The University of Karachi on Saturday notified the list of 3,652 applicants selected for admissions to the honours programmes in science, arts, commerce, pharmacy and Islamic studies at over 55 departments of the varsity.

According to The director of KU admissions committee, Dr Shakeel Khan, a slightly less number of candidates than the previous year about 7,623 candidates had applied for admissions against 2,666 available seats.

The director of KU admissions committee, Dr Shakeel Khan, said that the percentage of candidates granted admissions to various departments was slightly above 49 per cent and most of the admissions, 3,541 granted admissions in the K (Karachi) category.

It is worth mentioning here that as per the revised admission policy, KU admission committee did not entertained applications of candidates under K (Karachi), who passed their SSC exams from any educational except Karachi.

Dr Khan informed that only 48 admissions were granted to candidates who applied for admissions under S (Sindh) category and 68 to those who applied for admissions under P (Pakistan) category and added that as compared to the last year, the percentage remained slightly higher including in the arts faculty.

Regarding candidates’ interest in social sciences, he said statistics showed more applicants applied for admissions to social sciences as compared to the previous year and added female students, opted for admissions to the science faculty, mostly in the biological sciences.

He said that the selected students could submit fees from Dec 12 to 15 and added that the applicants unsatisfied with the merit list or their placements could submit claim forms, available for Rs200 each at the varsity’s Silver Jubilee Gate, from Dec 12 to 15.—PPI
