KARACHI: Steps to solve problems of LGH under way

KARACHI, Dec 10: The public sector hospitals are rendering valuable services by providing free of cost healthcare facilities to the poor and middle class people of the country.

This was stated here by Sindh Health Secretary Noshad A. Sheikh while speaking at a staff meeting including paramedics of the Lyari General Hospital (LGH) on Saturday afternoon.

In this regard, he particularly lauded the role of the LGH, saying that despite various constraints, the hospital staff dedicated themselves to serving the needy and poor sections of the populace.

Referring to the problems of the hospital, the secretary said being the former medical superintendent of the LGH; he said he was fully aware of them and assured the staff members that steps were being taken gradually to solve the problems.

According to them, two more ambulances waiting for approval would be provided to the hospital soon. He said steps were also being taken to arrange male nursing courses in the evening.

The secretary further stated that services structure of paramedics and special grades of doctors were under consideration, saying that all these steps were being taken so that they could provide services to the people.

On this occasion, MS Dr (Captain) Mukhtiar Khawaja listed some of the chronic problems including water shortage and slow pace of renovation work being undertaken by a government agency.

Director CME programme Prof Zaman Sheikh highlighted the academic activities being conducted at the hospital and further announced that a workshop on insulin therapy would soon be organized.

Earlier, the secretary inaugurated an induction ceremony of two lifts specially meant for patients to provide them easy access to various wards and OT sections.
