HYDERABAD, Dec 9: The chief engineer of the Kotri Barrage, Mr Manzoor Shaikh, has issued a notification informing landlords and cultivators that the Kotri Barrage will remain closed from Dec 25 to Jan 10, 2006, (both days inclusive) for the purpose of normal inspection, maintenance and necessary repairs of infrastructure.

There will be no water flow in off-taking canals Akram Wah (lined channel), Old Phulelli (Pinyari), New Phulelli, K.B. Feeder upper, Wadhoo Wah and Fasadi Wah during the closure period.

JCSC: The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Gen Ehsan-ul-Haq, visited the Hyderabad Garrison on Friday, says an ISPR press release.

On arrival at the division headquarters, he was received by General Officer Commanding Maj-Gen Mohammad Mustafa Khan and introduced to staff officers.

It was followed by a briefing on professional matters.

Gen Ehsan had a detailed round of the cantonment, including training facilities, troops living accommodation, administrative installations and recreational facilities of soldiers.

The chairman JCSC appreciated the work of the garrison headquarters.

Later, accompanied by the GOC, he flew to the Chhor cantonment.
