RAWALPINDI, Dec 9: Fifty-one foreign medical teams along with 233 Pakistani doctors are treating the Oct 8 earthquake victims in the mountainous region of Azad Kashmir and NWFP, said an ISPR press release here on Friday. The foreign medical teams have established 47 field hospitals: 18 in Azad Kashmir and 29 in NWFP.

Pakistan army doctors have established nine forward treatment centres and 28 teams of army doctors and paramedics are treating patients in Azad Kashmir and NWFP. 21 health units, comprising civil doctors and paramedical are also treating patients in the field area.

Army engineers have provided 56,000 shelters to the people living in the affected area; 40,000 shelters have been constructed in Azad Kashmir and 21,000 shelters provided in Bagh to protect the people from cold weather.

In Muzaffarabad, Jhelum and Neelum Valley over 12,000 shelters have been constructed mostly in the areas 5,000 feet high. In Rawalkot 5,000 shelters have been provided to the needy people.
