KARACHI, Dec 9: Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China Sun Chun Ye on Friday urged the members of the business community to visit China frequently to understand and explore the Chinese market dynamics to promote Pakistani products.

“Pakistani businessmen need to visit China frequently and market their products besides diversifying their product range to meet the quality standards and demand of the Chinese market.”

In a meeting with the President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Haroon Farooki and other members of the KCCI here at the Chamber Premises, he said that both the countries have signed Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), and also under Early Harvest Programme are entitled to concessions and incentives, which need to be fully utilized.

Referring to suggestions regarding increased access to Chinese markets, he clarified that foreign companies could set up their warehouses, however, only Chinese firms are allowed to import.

Regarding setting up of Chinese Language centres in Pakistan, particularly Karachi, the Chinese consul general said that it would be considered positively.

The Chinese Consul-General said that the meeting has provided him an opportunity to understand and exchange views with the local business community. He said that Karachi being the industrial and commercial hub of the country has its unique significance and importance.

The President of the KCCI, Haroon Farooki said the relations of Pakistan and China were time-tested and exemplary.

He stressed the need for increasing trade relations between business communities of the two friendly countries, and said that KCCI and the Chinese consulate in Karachi should also frequently interact with each other to facilitate bilateral relations.

Sun Chun Ye, Consul general of the people republic of China, congratulated Farooki on his election to the office of President of the KCCI. Zhao Qingmao, Chinese commercial Counselor was also present in the meeting.
