MAKKAH, Dec 8: The heads of Muslim countries on Thursday agreed to counter foreign threats that jeopardized the security of any OIC member state collectively and rejected unilateral sanctions that might be imposed on any member country. The joint communique issued at the end of the two-day summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference emphasized on having a ‘Joint Islamic Action’ in face of natural calamities and “countering foreign threats that jeopardize the security of any OIC member states in a collective manner.”
It rejected unilateral sanctions, which may be imposed on any member state.
The summit stressed that dialogue among civilizations based on mutual respect, understanding and equality between peoples was a pre-requisite for establishing a world marked by tolerance, cooperation, peace and confidence among nations.—APP
