Pakistan cueists invited in Dubai


KARACHI, Dec 8: Pakistan has been invitated to figure in the six-nation International snooker championship being staged in Dubai, in February 2006, President, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association Asghar Valika said on Thursday.

He said UAE was conducting the championship and other participating countries are China, Hong Kong, India, Thailand and host UAE.

“The event will be a team championship and will carry prize money of 30,000 UAE Dirham with the winners getting 20,000. Each participating team will comprise four players.

He said that Pakistan cuemen will also feature in the Asian snooker championship to be held in Sri Lanka in June and World championship in Jordan in November later this year.

He said PBSA has also chalked out a tentative programme for various ranking events including the staging of prestigious national championship.

Karachi and Lahore are considered as the venues for the nationals which he said will be organized in February.

He said Style Snooker, Cup Snooker and Latif Masters will be held as scheduled.—APP
