Rawalpindi crowned champions

ISLAMABAD, Dec 8: Rawalpindi on Thursday won the PCB Under-19 Inter-region Cricket Championship final walloping Islamabad by six wickets with a day to spare at the Diamond Ground.

Islamabad, 118-3 overnight, were dismissed for 276 on the third day with Yasim Murtaza restricting them with haul of five wickets. Asif Mumtaz chipped in with 3-71.

Mirza Wasim Baig, who hit up 58, remained the top-scorer.

Rawalpindi, set 96 runs for victory were home in 24 overs losing four wickets, Mohammad Ibrahim leading the way with 36.

Yasim Murtaza abd Haseeb Amjad were declared joint man-of-the-match.

ISLAMABAD 140 in 48.2 overs (Imran Fazal 49, Taimur Javed 21, Imad Wasim 15; Haseeb Amjad 5-62, Akhtar Ayub 3-45, Yasim Murtaza 2-23) and 276 in 119.5 overs (Mirza Wasim Baig 58, Junaid Nadir 43, Kamran Hussain 36, Yasir Waheed 33 not out, Naeem Anjum 32; Yasim Murtaza 5-88, Asif Mumtaz 3-71); RAWALPINDI 321 in 82.1 overs (Usman Ashraf 75, Umer Amin 47, Zahid Mansoor 44, Yasim Murtaza 38, Haseeb Amjad 33; Kamran Hussain 5-72) and 99-4 in 24 overs (Mohammad Ibrahim 36, Zahid Mansoor 26 not out, Owais Zia 21).
