SNP protests against Kalabagh

Published December 9, 2005

JACOBABAD, Dec 8: A procession was taken out by the Sindh National Front here on Thursday in protest against construction of the Kalabagh dam. The rally was started from the party office at the Quetta road and after marching through various roads reached the Habib chowk.

The protesters staged a sit-in for one hour at the chowk.

They were led by the member of the executive committee, Akram Abro.

Speakers, Maula Bux Khoso, Zar Khan Brohi, Nisar Ahmed Mirani and Asif Bhutto said that the construction of the Kalabagh dam was a conspiracy against Sindh.

They said the dam would turn thousands of acres of land barren in the province.

The protesters later reached the DCO chowk and dispersed peacefully.
