DERA GHAZI KHAN, Dec 8: After winning the slot of Dera Ghazi Khan tehsil nazim, the Jamal Leghari group has thrown down the gauntlet to the district nazim and his administration by holding two news conferences against them and the traffic police. The political band has threatened to stage demonstrations against the district nazim and the SP traffic.
Reports reveal that Jamal Khan Leghari, the head of his own faction and former district nazim, together with tehsil nazim Mahmood Qadir Leghari, held a news conference at the latter’s office a few days ago and spoke against District Nazim Maqsood Khan Leghari’s policies. He accused the nazim of victimizing members of the Leghari group.
He threatened to stage a protest demonstration in front of the district nazim office on behalf of the tehsil nazim.
It is pertinent to mention that the B-division police had registered a case against the brother of Leghari’s associate on the charge of opening fire on police party and intruding into an Eidgah for illegal occupation.
The tehsil nazim on Thursday held another news conference against the traffic police and threatened to announce strike of the TMA officials and traders. He alleged that the SP traffic was getting Rs2.5 million as monthly and demanded that he should be immediately transferred, otherwise, the TMA would hold demonstration against the traffic police and the District Transport Authority secretary.
He also referred to progression of vehicles, saying there are 17,000 motorcycle-rickshaws in the city and only 400 of those are registered thanks to the apathy of the departments concerned.
He alleged that the excise department (which registers the vehicles against fees), the traffic police and the TMA were responsible for the mushroom growth of the three-wheelers in the city.
Interestingly, the tehsil nazim had a couple of days ago lauded the police for challaning 47 motorcycle-rickshaws here on his request.
