KARACHI, Dec 8: The provincial anti-corruption court, headed by Judge Arjun Ram Talreeja, issued on Thursday non-bailable warrants for the arrest of former chief of the Karachi Building Control Authority, Brig (retd) S. A. Nasir.

The judge ordered the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) to arrest the former KBCA chief and produce him in the court on Dec 12.

Brig Nasir is an absconding accused in a corruption case initially registered against Akhlaq Ahmed, controller of the KBCA, and his personal assistant Moin Ahmed. The two KBCA officials were arrested on Oct 24 for their involvement in irregularities and corruption in the KBCA affairs.

It was stated that Akhlaq Ahmed had retired from service in 2001.

He was given extension for two years which had also expired but he continued to work on the three positions.

The ACE investigation also showed that Akhlaque Ahmed had possessed an apartment on the 6th floor in Al-Mashriq Centre near the Civic Centre where all illegal deals were made.
