SANA’A, Dec 6: Pakistan and Yemen on Tuesday signed four agreements and MoUs on security cooperation, technical education, vocational training, cooperation in air transportation, oil and mineral development. President Pervez Musharraff and his Yemeni counterpart Ali Abdullah Saleh witnessed the signing ceremony in Sana’a.
Earlier, the two Presidents held one-to-one meeting and discussed enhancement of political and economic ties for mutual benefit of both the countries.
Earlier, the President said his talks with Yemeni leadership were fruitful and will help further consolidate relations.
Addressing a gathering of Pakistani community in Sanaa, he said both sides are willing to take ties to higher level. “We have decided to explore a number of areas to intensify and expand our cooperation.”
He described his meetings with President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Yemeni Prime Minister and cabinet members as useful and expressed confidence these would lead to better ties in political, energy, trade and cultural areas.
Pakistan, he said, would be willing to extend cooperation to Yemen in agriculture and provide help in increasing its agrarian output.
He spoke of government plans for reconstruction and rehabilitation in earthquake shattered areas, and said Pakistan is following a transparent strategy to provide relief and reconstruction assistance to quake survivors.—-PPI
