Indian shipping team due tomorrow

KARACHI, Dec 6: A six-member Indian delegation headed by Joint Secretary, Department of Shipping, Susheel Kumar, is visiting Pakistan from December 8 to 10 to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart.

Shipping officials of the two countries are expected to discuss modalities for liberalization of shipping services between them. The Pakistani side in the talks will be headed by Capt. Anwar Shah, Director General Ports and Shipping, Ministry of Ports and Shipping.

The existing shipping trade between the two countries is carried out under the provisions of Pakistan-India Shipping Protocol- 1975.

The main thrust of both the sides is to improve the provisions of this protocol, thus making them conducive for the enhancement of shipping trade and allow lifting of third country cargo and to facilitate the Pakistani and Indian seafarers join ships at each others ports.
