Performance of EDB reviewed

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6: Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives, Jehangir Khan Tareen reviewed the performance of the Engineering Development Board (EDB) in a meeting here on Tuesday.

The minister underlined the importance of auto industry in the development of economy of the country and said that it was a key industry to maintain sustainable economic growth.

Countries like Turkey, Malaysia, Thailand and South Africa have made economic progress through the development of automobile industry. He said that it was top priority domain of the engineering sector.

The new EDB chairman, Mr Wasim Haqqie and ex-chairman Mr Abdul Razzak Dawood also attended the meeting. The minister welcomed the new chairman and expressed the hope that under his guidance, EDB would be further strengthened.

The minister requested Mr Razzak Dawood to continue his support for the development of the engineering sector adding that he would continue his good work for the development of the auto industry in Pakistan.
