KARACHI, Dec 5: Sindh Adviser for Information Salahuddin Haider said on Monday that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should explain to the people as to why the Asia Cup was postponed and how could Indians unilaterally take that decision.

“Pakistan, being the host of the event should have enjoyed complete right to make announcements about such a prestigious event, but the abrupt announcement from Indian Board chief Sharad Pawar, was indeed surprising,” the Adviser said in an official statement.

The adviser recalled that on at least several different occasions he had explained to the people that most of the decisions in cricket was going against Pakistan due to “the incompetence and inefficiency” of the PCB officials.

He demanded that PCB should immediately lodge protest with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the ICC over Indian attitude who have always avoided facing Pakistan in Asia Cup, forgetting that Indians ignored Pakistan’s non-participation on a couple of events and won the tournament.

The Adviser demanded that PCB chairman or senior officials should take up the matter in all seriousness with the Indians, the ACC, and the ICC to hold the Asia Cup on time as it was a question of Pakistan’s prestige.

Haider also drew the nation’s attention towards timing of the Indian announcement from Mumbai last night, pointing out that Shard Pawar’s statement came within hours of Pakistan winning the series against England.

“Obviously Indians, having lost the one-day series by an overwhelming margin on their home ground to Pakistan, are frightened against Pakistan team”, the adviser observed.

He pointed out that Indians have found in postponing the tournament an easy excuse to avoid their international responsibility.

Haider claimed that it was the right of the Pakistan team to play the Asia Cup at home because the nation wants to see its heroes in action at various centres in Pakistan.—APP
