ABBOTTABAD, Dec 5: Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that with the support of President Gen Pervez Musharraf, the NWFP government has received approval of rehabilitation projects of over Rs80 billion for quake-affected areas.
Inaugurating the DTC rehabilitation project, launched by the Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment (DTCE) in Mansehra on Monday, the chief minister said that more than Rs6 billion had been distributed among the quake-affected people, adding that each and every affected person would be paid compensation for losses of life and property or for injuries.
The project launching ceremony was attended by nazims and councillors of Mansehra, MNAs, MPA, senators and government officials.
He said that the local DCO and SDPO would supervise the process so that the affected people get the compensation money and if any fake payment was made then the people responsible would face action.
Reacting on reports that some people whose houses were not damaged by the quake were demolishing their houses, he urged councillors to keep a watch on such elements and bring into his notice any wrongdoing.
Mr Durrani said that a loss of Rs17 billion had been estimated to the government offices, colleges, schools and hospitals and work on them had been started on priority basis.
