PESHAWAR, Dec 5: The National Accreditation Council has accredited the Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research’s (PCSIR) laboratories complex to ISO-17025 certification. PCSIR is the first public sector organisation in the province to receive this certification, according to a press release issued on Monday.
PCSIR’s director general Mohammad Tariq Khan said that ISO-certification was obligatory under the World Trade Organisation’s regime for testing products meant for export.
He said that local exporters could enhance their exports, because of the availability of testing facilities for their products in the city.
At present, 83 tests relating to food, pharmaceuticals, material science and environment have been accredited. Further tests in the textile and calibration activities will be included in the list of accredited items by the National Accreditation Council.
