Man shot dead in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Dec 5: A man was shot dead by some armed persons here on Monday. Police said Abdul Razzaq, 40, a resident of Mirpur, suffered a bullet injury in his chest when gunmen opened fire on him in Sector I-9/1. He was taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where he died.

Our Staff Reporter from Pindi adds: Two persons including a policeman were shot and injured in different parts of Rawalpindi on Monday, police said.

Nasir Mehmood Bhatti, an employee at a car showroom, was fired upon and injured by two robbers who intercepted him in front of the showroom near Chandni Chowk Murree Road and looted Rs500,000.

Nasir Mehmood told the New Town police that after drawing the cash from a bank, he reached the showroom where the two robbers travelling in a white car held him at gunpoint.

The armed man opened fire sensing that Nasir was reluctant in giving up the cash. After injuring the employee, the robbers escaped with the cash bag.

Farooq Khan, a policeman, was shot and injured by four robbers who intercepted him in the jurisdiction of R.A. Bazaar police and snatched his mobile phone.

Farooq Khan stated that he was heading home on his motorbike when the robbers held him at gunpoint.

The robbers shot and injured the policeman when he refused to give up the keys of his motorbike. However, they snatched his mobile phone and disappeared in the dark.—Staff Reporter
