Robbers kill cabbie on resistance

SAHIWAL, Dec 4: A cab driver was shot dead on resistance by bandits in one of the five robbery cases reported here on Sunday. Masquerading as passengers, three bandits, including a woman, rented a car (Karachi-750-177) from Sahiwal. As they reached near Chak 56/4-I, armed bandits shot dead driver Irshad and also took away his vehicle. Later, police arrested accused Abida Parveen and his accomplice Shahbaz Ahmed while their third accomplice managed to drive away with the vehicle.

Five bandits entered the house of Muhammad Younas of Chak 165-A-9-L, held the inmates hostage and locked them in a room. Later, they scooped cash and ornaments worth Rs227,000 and disappeared from the scene.

Six armed robbers snatched a car (SLJ-5386) from Rashid Ahmed and his two colleagues Abdul Khaliq and Riaz Ahmed.

Gunmen deprived Adnan of Chak 87/9-L of his motorcycle (SLW-4555) near the water tank in High Street.

In Chak 60/4-R 7, armed bandits entered Rafaqat Ali’s house and injured his father Ahmed Din Gujjar and uncle Muhammad Asghar on resistance.

Police have registered separate cases.

10 POS HELD: The local police on Sunday claimed to have busted two gangs of dacoits and arrested 10 proclaimed offenders.

Kamir police busted the Mukhtar Makhan gang and arrested ring leader Khalidi, Aslam, Ashraf, Manzoor, Alam Sher and their accomplices. Police also recovered Rs255,000 in cash and illicit arms including, three pistols and a revolver.

Police also busted the Shazada gang involved in snatching of motorcycles. The arrested outlaws were identified as ring leader Muhammad Bakhsh, Muzzamil Husain and Amjad. Police also recovered from them 11 snatched motorcycles and Rs150,000 in cash besides four pistols and 44 cartridges.

Police have registered separate cases.
