Memorandum submitted

GILGIT, Dec 4: Leaders and activists of the Karakoram National Movement submitted a memorandum to the military observers’ station of the United Nations here on Saturday, condemning denial of rights to the people of Gilgit and Baltistan.

They said the denial had recently forced a leader of the movement, Ghazi Anwer Khan, to set himself on fire during protests outside the UN mission in Kabul on Nov 15. The memorandum called upon the UN to initiate an investigation into the circumstances which forced the leader to take his own life.—BoC
