KARACHI, Dec 4: The Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Nazim, Muhammad Wasey Jaleel, on Sunday inaugurated the expansion project of Sehba Akhtar Road in the town’s Union Council No 8, said a statement.

Mr Jaleel, during the project’s inaugural ceremony, said development of the road network was their priority.

He said the expansion of Sir Shah Suleman Road was also being carried out to ensure a smooth and free flow of traffic.

Negligence will not be tolerated in this regard, he said.

The Nazim of UC-8, Rehan Raees, thanked Mr Jaleel for the road’s inauguration project and expressed his commitment to make UC-8 a model area of the town.

The statement also said that Mr Jaleel along with Nazim of UC-2 Rasheed Todal and other town staff visited various areas of UC-2 and directed the sanitary staff to remove encroachments from the footpath at Dhoraji so that passage could be given to pedestrians.

Upgradation work of the sewerage network at Bahadurabad was also reviewed.

The Gulshan Town nazim also directed concerned officials to paint the boundary walls of the women park in Block 14, while further directing the staff to ensure the cleaning of Alamgir Road.

Progress on all these instructions will be reviewed on the town nazim’s next visit, he said.

All participants of the meeting appreciated the town nazim on holding of the meeting and apprised him about the problems of their areas.

He asked the representatives to coordinate with each other and show their active participation in public welfare works in their respective UCs.

Abdul Haq said town officials should also present their suggestions regarding the resolution of problems of people to the administration of the city government and to their concerned town and UC administrations.

The statement also said fumigation of insecticidal spray and a cleanliness campaign were under way in the town.

The town nazim observed that concerned UC nazims had been working round the clock and supervising the cleanliness and fumigation drives in their respective UCs.
