KARACHI: Arrangements for Dec 10 by-election reviewed
KARACHI, Dec 4: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Acting Chief Election Commissioner, to review the arrangements made for the by-election in Sindh, an official statement issued here on Sunday said.
The by-election for one National Assembly seat NA-210 Jacobabad-III (now falling in the newly-created Kashmor district), and two Sindh Assembly seats, PS-117 and PS-120, both falling in the Karachi city district, is scheduled to be held on December 10.
Provincial Election Commissioner Ahmed Ali Halepota gave the acting CEC a briefing about the arrangements.
The district and sessions judges of Kashmor and Karachi (East) told the meeting that they had finalized all arrangements for the purpose.
Justice Dogar directed the participants to remain vigilant and ensure the conduct of by-election in a transparent manner, as well as in a peaceful atmosphere before and after the polling day.
He stressed that all functionaries involved in the process of election must remain impartial.
Federal Secretary of Election Commission Kanwar Mohammad Dilshad, enumerated the objectives of the meeting and expressed the confidence that all arrangements at the end of the ECP were completed.
Regional Police Officer, Sukkur Region, and Capital City Police Officer, Karachi, briefed the meeting about the law and order situation and the arrangements made by them for a smooth conduct of polling.
The meeting was also attended by chief secretary, additional chief secretary and home secretary.—APP
