MEDIA: Only the print and electronic media is highlighting problems being faced by politicians and the general public.

This was stated by former National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee chairman Hamza while addressing an inaugural ceremony of the district press club building here on Friday.

He said that journalists had always struggled for the rights of toiling masses and those who were victimised by the rulers.

Speaking on the occasion, District Nazim Chaudhry Abdul Sattar urged the newsmen to bring to his notice the problems related to the common man.

Punjab Forest Minister Dr Ashfaqur Rehman greeted press club office-bearers on the completion of the building despite hurdles created by the former district government.

Former PPP leader Ghiasuddin Janbaz praised the print media for promoting healthy journalism, but condemned the electronic media for spreading obscenity.

Press club president Mian Manzoor Naz, secretary-general Tariq Saeed, PPP district secretary-general Chaudhry Saeed Akhtar, Jamaat-i-Islami district amir Dr Zahid Sattar and DSP Aslam Shankar also spoke on the occasion.

DPO Akhtar Laleka, PML-N district president Amjad Ali Javed, Public Relations deputy director Maqbool Sahoo, district journalists association president Riaz Akhtar Awan, press club executive committee chairman Haji Abdul Majeed Anwar and district heads of various government departments also attended the ceremony.
