KARACHI, Dec 2: The Sindh High Court Bar Association decided on Thursday to set up a cell to keep in touch with ailing lawyers and other members forced out of practice by adverse circumstances.

Addressing a news conference at the SHCBA office, newly-elected president M. Ilyas Khan said the association would take practicable steps to ensure the welfare of its members. The House Building Finance Corporation would be asked to give loans on easy terms for the construction of houses in the Sharaf Faridi Housing Project. The utilities concerned would be approached to provide water and power connections to the project urgently.

The SHCBA clinic on the SHC premises would be equipped to provide more facilities. An emergency medical fund would be set up soon to extend immediate relief in hardship cases. More land would be acquired for the housing project and for lawyers’ chambers. Canteen facilities would also be improved, the SHCBA chief said.
