FAISALABAD, Dec 1: The Lyallpur Town Administration has issued legal notices to 729 multi-storey buildings for not meeting codal requirements. Notices, distributed by the town staff on Thursday, asked owners of over two-storey buildings to complete legal formalities and implement building bye-laws or ready to face the music.

Town Nazim Rana Zahid Mehmood said that a comprehensive survey had been started to physically inspect the building structure, car parking facility, fire-fighting arrangements and capability to sustain a powerful earthquake.

He said that a grand operation would be launched against violators after the completion of building survey by the end of the current month.

While Wasa authorities have also made it mandatory for multi-storey buildings to get an NOC prior to the construction.

A Wasa spokesman came clean that not a single NOC had been issued to any multi-storey building in the city during the last over two decades.

Meanwhile, the nazim said that a survey was being conducted to beautify and upgrade green belts, parks and open places in Lyallpur Town.
