TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 1: Most of the farmers in dozens of villages in the district have failed to sow wheat in November due to non-availability of irrigation water. This was claimed here on Thursday by Justice and Peace Organisation president Mehr Rab Nawaz Dadoana in a press conference.

He said that the Jhang branch canals remained closed for one month when sowing season was at its peak. The canal, he said, had once again been closed for another 15 days.

He said that 250 villages were facing irrigation water shortage while there was no drinking water for villagers and their animals in Chak 408 JB, 408 JB, 403 JB, 405 JB, 406 JB, 407 JB, 411 JB, 412 JB, 413 JB, 345 GB, 346 GB, 344 GB, 347 GB, 410 JB, 402 JB and 302 GB because subsoil water was brackish.
