GUJRANWALA, Dec 1: District Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha on Thursday forwarded a memorandum to the Punjab government for release of funds to pay conveyance allowance and additional house rent to teachers in all towns of the district. Reports said teachers of as many as 39 UCs had been deprived of the allowances following division of the city into four towns — Khiali Shahpur, Nandipur, Aroop and Qila Dedar Singh.

A delegation of Punjab Teachers Union, led by action committee organiser Muhammad Ibrahim Saqi, had met with the district nazim at his office and apprised him that out of 103 councils, teachers of 39 remote UCs had been denied the allowances. The district nazim had assured the delegation that the allowances would be paid to them.

Executive District Officer (education) Raja Khadim Husain and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
