Aids awareness walk in Sukkur

SUKKUR, Dec 1: District Nazim Nasir Hussain Shah has stressed the need for awareness among general masses about disease of Aids. He was speaking at a walk organized by the Sukkur Blood and Drugs Donating Society and Sindh Aids Control Programmes to mark the World Aids Day at the Clock Tower on Thursday.

He announced a grant of Rs500,000 for Aids control purposes and promised for providing one syringe cutter for every health facility in the whole district.

They said that in Pakistan as many as 3,000 cases of HIV/Aids had been reported so far but the figure reported by the WHO was 25 per cent more than the mentioned figure adding that in this way Pakistan and Malaysia had touched an alarming proportion in HIV positive cases.

The EDO (health) also spoke on the occasion.

The walk was participated by a large number of people belonging to all walks of life.

The district nazim also laid foundation stone of an emergency ambulance service building at the Sukkur Hospital.

Mirpurkhas: A rally was taken out from the civil hospital here on Thursday to mark the international Aids day.

The participants included Mirpurkhas Taluka Nazim Ghulam Dastagir Khan, health EDO Dr Hadi Bux Laghari, DCO Khursheed Naeem Malik, doctors and paramedics.

They were carrying banners and placards.

The participants of the walk marched through various roads and reached the local press club.

SHIKARPUR: A walk was organized by the health department here on Thursday to create awareness about Aids.

THO Dr Altaf Abbasi, medical superintendent of the Shikarpur civil hospital, Dr Masood Ahmed Badvi, Dr Sanaullah Pathan, medical officers, paramedical staff, clerical staff, notables and representatives of NGOs participated in the walk.
