Probe official accused of harassing nurses

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, Dec 1: Nursing staff of the Khairpur Civil Hospital have accused a member of an inquiry team formed by the Sindh secretary for health of harassing and threatening them during the inquiry. The nurses alleged on Thursday that the member was pressurising them to record statements according to his will. They said they were feeling insecure.

The inquiry is being conducted into complaints of nurses about police torture during their protest against the transfer of the principal of the Khairpur Nursing School.

GIRL KIDNAPPED: A 16-year-old girl, Rita Kumari, was kidnapped by four armed people from Hindu Mohalla in the Priyaloi town on Wednesday evening.

The girl’s father, Partab Mal, lodged an FIR with the Priyaloi police on Thursday. He alleged that Izhar Ahmad, Ghulam Mohammad Mahessar and two other people entered his house and kidnapped his daughter in a car.

TRANSFERRED: The chief executive of Hesco has transferred three SDOs of Luqman, Priyaloi and Pir-Jo-Goth sub-divisions for negligence in duty.

He appointed Parvez Phulpoto, Anwar Solangi and Manzoor Soomro as new SDOs.

Meanwhile, some people took away 1,600 metres electricity wire from Sathio Wah Pul to Kajlo Katohar, causing suspension of power to many villages in the area. Hesco officials lodged an FIR at the A-section police station on Wednesday.
