Policemen held for taking boy to Lahore

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 1: The Satellite town police, Mirpurkhas, have detained three police officials of Lahore’s Badami Bagh police station who brought back a boy taken to Lahore by the Badami Bagh police. This was stated by Mirpurkhas DIGP Saleemullah Khan at a press conference here on Thursday.

He said that on Nov 24, a team of the Badami Bagh police, led by ASI Asghar Ali, had come to the Choudhry Baghdin village, Satellite town police area, to arrest Mohammad Aslam, an accused in a case of theft of gold ornaments worth Rs3 million, and in his absence taken away his 14-year-old nephew, Amjad Ali, son of Ghulam Mustafa, to Lahore. He said that later, Amjad was implicated in a false case of stealing Rs20,000 and sent to the Lahore jail.

He said when he came to know about it, he contacted the Lahore DIGP and on Thursday three officials of the Badami Bagh police, ASI Azizur Rehman and constables Amjad Farooq and Zulfikar, brought Amjad to Mirpurkhas.

He said that after detaining the three policemen, the Satellite town police lodged a case under sections 218, 451, 343, 109, 365 and 34, PPC, on a complaint of Amjad against ASI Asghar Ali and constables Khalid Mujeeb and Mohammad Ashraf.

He said he had warned local police officers not to hand over any person to police of other provinces without his permission.

TALUKA NAZIM: Mirpurkhas Taluka Nazim Ghulam Dastagir Khan has said he is receiving complaints from people that unhygienic and water-pressured meat is being sold in the city and animals are being slaughtered on roads and in streets, instead of the slaughterhouse, causing health problems.

He was speaking at a meeting on Wednesday which was attended by officers and meat sellers.

He asked meat sellers to cooperate with the taluka municipal administration and slaughter animals in the slaughterhouse. He assured them that facilities would be provided to them in the slaughterhouse and markets.

He directed for legal action against those selling unhygienic and pressured meat in the city.
