Injury not serious

LAHORE, Nov 30: Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq has been cleared to resume batting in the third Test against England after sustaining a wrist injury on Wednesday.

Inzamam had to retire hurt on 35 after being struck by fast bowler Steve Harmison on his right wrist.

A spokesman for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Inzamam had gone for precautionary X-rays.

“The tests have shown no internal fracture or injury and it is just a case of bad bruising. He has been cleared to bat again on the third day,” he said.

Inzamam has batted very well against England with scores of 53, 72, 109 and 100 not out in the first two Tests.

Inzamam, unbeaten on 35, needs just 10 more runs to become second Pakistani after Javed Miandad to complete 8,000 runs in Test cricket.—Agencies
