NBP, Navy in semifinals

KARACHI, Nov 30: National Bank (NBP) and Pakistan Navy reached All-Pakistan Gold Cup football semifinals in a contrasting manner at Bizenjo Stadium, Gwadar, on Wednesday.

NBP defeated hosts Gwadar 2-0. After a goalless first half, the bankers went 1-0 up through Abdul Sattar in the 78th minute and doubled the lead when Aurangzaib converted a penalty kick a minute before time.

Navy lost to Kutch 3-4 despite a hat trick by Zaheer Ahmad but moved ahead on better goal average.

The sailors opened the account with a Zaheer Ahmad goal in the 22nd minute who extended the lead next minute before Shoaibdad of Kutch reduced the margin in the 28th minute.

Mureed Dad slammed home a penalty kick for Kutch in the 38th minute to restore parity.

Navy faced stiff challenge from Kutch who slotted home two more through Asif Gul in the 48th minute and Shoaibdad in the 57th minute.

Zaheer completed his treble in the 64th minute but Kutch emerged victors in the end.
