New French law on terror


PARIS, Nov 29: France’s lower house of parliament on Tuesday adopted a new terrorism law drawn up following the London transport bombings, that is set to allow greatly increased video surveillance of public places.

The text was supported by the 373 deputies of the ruling centre-right UMP and its ally the UDF, while the 27 deputies from the Communist and Green parties voted against.—AFP
